Canyon Country Adventures- June 2024
Our fabulous adventure took several us through the splendor of the jewels we refer to as our National Parks. Five of us took 12 days in Arizona, Utah and Nevada to feed our souls amongst these magnificent treasures. We landed in luxury in Arizona a day early and pampered ourselves with vista views, delicious cocktails and spa treatments at Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.
We met the next morning and soon boarded the bus for our first stop in Sedona, AZ. By evening we had experienced our first glance at the spectacular Grand Canyon. Two nights at the Canyon allowed us truly to admire the beauty and wonder it is.
As we headed to our next destination, we got to travel through Monument Valley, experience a Navajo Bread Tasting, and soak in the region’s rich history with our knowledgeable guide’s narration. Learning about the mesas and buttes and how the weather forms all of these beautiful creations was captivating. For many of us, we felt a spiritual moment when we walked through the Antelope Slot Canyon where wind and water combine to “design” and form the area. To hear our Native American guide speak about it was fascinating. We were truly in awe of this area.
Our hotel in Lake Powell was above the beach area, where red rock vistas and deep blue (and cold) water meet. On the road again, a quick stop was made in Red Canyon National Park as we headed to see the hoodoos and grottos of Bryce Canyon. Each stop had its own significance; each its own beauty. We were mesmerized by all of it.
All 5 of us have travelled together before and we have become friends outside of the Suitcase Gals. We all agreed that experiencing all of this together was amazing! Another stop took us to Zion National Park. We hiked the easier part of the trail, put our toes in the winding Virgin River and enjoyed a boxed lunch together. It was our last National Park and where we stood among the high walls of the cliffs looking up instead of looking down.
Beauty was all around us during the National Parks Tour. We are all looking forward to another National Parks Tour that will be coming soon. We headed to Vegas where we said goodbye to many new friends we made and promised to see again. Some of us extended our stay there to learn about the old & new Vegas, the Hoover Dam and enjoy the company of friends!
