Moroccan Escape- March 2024

Morocco is an inspiring country. the people here lead a simplistic and modest lifestyle. A culture that dates back into the 6th century is full of vibrant colors, deep traditions and kind and warm people.

We explored Casablanca, Fez and Marrakech as well as El Jadida a former Portuguese colony. From Medina's to Mosques, we wandered the streets of these ancient cities in awe of the history and people that made this place a true mecca.

We were a curious bunch that asked so many questions. It was particularly interesting to be there during the Holy month of Ramadan.

What always makes our groups so special is the women who travel with us. Women from all over the US & Canada who come bringing their own experiences which add to the overall experience of Suitcase Gals.

Immersion

Immersion in the local culture leads to amazing things. These young women were happy to have their photograph take with American women. They live in a small village near Fez, which often does not see outsiders in their community. Anxious to speak some English we were greeted with "Hello and How are you?"

The saying "it takes a village to raise a child," has never been truer than in Morocco.

What makes our trips so special?

All of our trips are curated for women by women.

When women are together, there are no traditional gender roles anymore. Women just get it, and they get each other. When you bring in another culture to this environment, women really open up.

Women tend to jump in and immerse themselves in the culture with curiosity and the yearning to learn, especially about other women in that culture.

There is also a special bond created by each group. Women are so accepting of other women and share so many similar experiences. They are all traveling for the same purpose. Meet new friends, travel with new and old friends, and explore the nooks and crannies around the world.
